This weekend we decided to go camping and relish one last weekend of nice weather! We decided on Thunder Ridge at Rampart Reservoir because the campsite had great reviews and they allowed dogs. On Saturday afternoon we headed up there and were even more impressed in person! We met the camp host, Tina, who directed us to pick any spot that we wanted. We settled on #12 because it was secluded and had a view of the reservoir and aspen trees below.

The above pictures were taken from our campsite. Once we set everything up, we decided to head down to the reservoir so Justin could fish. I brought my Kindle and our dog, Susie, along with. The hike down only took about 10 minutes and it was very easy. There were several other people fishing at the reservoir, but they were very spread out and it was peaceful. We didn't end up catching any fish, but we talked to other people who said earlier in the day the fish were being very active.

When we were done fishing we headed back up the hill to our campsite. When we made it back to our campsite I continued to read my book and Justin did crossword puzzles. We played with my new camera and tossed the tennis ball with Susie until it was time for dinner. For dinner we cooked foil packet dinners (an upcoming post). After dinner we made s'mores and I taught Justin what a S'moreo is. Then we cleaned up, chatted, and went to bed. At night there was a full moon and it kept the tent lit pretty bright. I brought my sleeping bag and Justin brought some blankets to lay on. Susie curled up between us while we slept.
In the morning, Justin headed down to the reservoir for more fishing, while I stayed at the campsite to finish my book and take down the tent. We made coffee, but decided to skip on the breakfast we had packed since I had to get home and do some homework.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this campsite! It closes on October 16th, so if you don't have
a chance this fall, check it out when it opens again in the spring! I'll post a gallery of more pictures below!
